A NEW NGO ON BOARD AT DADAAB CAMPS

Since the departure of CARE international in Kenya that had youth and sports development- SYD sector to IFO and Dagahley camps, Hagadera refugee camp never got an agency that replaced and took over the youth activities but never the less Hagadera youth umbrella organization took the initiative to handle all youth issues and the achievements they made were perfect and brilliant. - REFUGEE EDUCATION TRUST- is a new NGO that has come in to take up the youth activities in Dadaab camps and today they have come to meet with the youth leaders at Hagadera youth ICT.

In the briefing meeting they said they will focus on five keys components which are;

1. Digital work
2. Capacity building of youth organizations
3. Life skills for Kambioos and Ifo 2
4. Apprenticeship
5. Accelerated learning

Mr George- RET- coordinator met with Hagadera youth executive committees and said an education officer and the program manager for RET will be on board before the end of October and the program will kick off early November, 2012. This time youth have in mind that they are recognized but not left out in all programs designed and implemented by all the agencies operating in Hagadera. RET is targeting youth and will be closely working with Hagadera youth umbrella organization.
